Juan Menjivar, OD.

Dr. Menjivar attended the University of Texas at Austin for his undergraduate education and earned his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston. He completed an externship at the Naval Health Clinic at Quantico, VA. With an interest in Sports Vision and vision training he has provided care for the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers.

As a National Institutes of Health Predoctoral Research Fellow Dr. Menjivar researched higher order aberrations of the eye at the Visual Optics Institute; University of Houston, Texas. He presented his original research as first author of a poster at the 2005 American Academy of Optometry Conference titled “Impact of Custom Contact Lens Dynamics on Simulated Keratoconus Visual Performance.” He also completed an internship at Bausch & Lomb; Rochester, New York. He worked with the Global Clinical Programs division in all aspects of clinical studies. He has also presented Grand Rounds cases at the University of Houston.

Dr. Menjivar is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), American Academy of Optometry (AAO), Fellowship of Christian Optometrists (FCO), Florida Optometric Association (FOA), and the Central Florida Society of Optometric Physicians (CFSOP).

As an active member of society Dr. Menjivar has participated in several mission trips including Aldersgate Methodist Church Mission to Belize; Wisconsin Lions Club Mission to Reynosa, Mexico; SVOSH and Baylor College of Medicine Shoulder to Shoulder Mission to Honduras; and FCO Mission to Merida, Mexico. He has participated in numerous vision screenings for various organizations including the AOA, VFW, and Special Olympics.

Dr. Menjivar attended high school in northern New Jersey enjoying the national parks and New York City before moving to Austin, Texas for college. At the University of Texas Dr. Menjivar earned his Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry, and while in Austin he spent time taking in the local bands, parks, and lakes that give Austin its unique character. After completing his Doctor of Optometry at the University of Houston he moved to Orlando, Fl, drawn by its proximity to both the ocean and large parks with the weather to enjoy them year round.
